As practice makes perfect, I cannot but make progress,
each drawing one makes, each study one paints, is a step forward.

There are 3 sets of term classes during the year:
Winter, Spring and Autumn.
These term classes run for periods of 8, 10 or 12 weeks where the student will meet for a 2 hour session once a week for the duration of the term. The Painting Studio offers both morning and afternoon classes. The morning session begins at 10.30am and finishes at 12.30pm.
The afternoon classes run from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.
The weekly classes allow the student artist to immerse themselves not only in the study of painting or drawing but in ideas and opportunities to see their world in new ways through art. There is no prerequisite for this course and like all classes at The Painting Studio, beginners to art are really welcome. Absolute beginners will start with basic exercises and techniques the first couple of weeks, gaining confidence through personal instruction by professional artist Grace Cunningham.
All students work along side one another at their own pace and skill level. Grace will speak to each student individually and adapt to each student’s needs to give them all the help they require to develop their artistic skills. So whether you're brushing up on your painting techniques or a more accomplished artist, you will receive step by step tuition and guidance in the techniques required to create and master your very own piece of art.
If you're seeking creativity, self expression and inspiration, a term class at Grace Cunningham's Painting Studio may very well be what you're looking for. Some people just can't commit to a full term of art classes but one of our Saturday Workshops or maybe the Summer week class would be more suitable and allow the artist within you to come forward. You can continue reading below to find out what these special workshops entail. If you would like to register your interest in this class or any of the other art courses at The Painting Studio, you can get in touch via the contact page or calling Grace at 087 906 4578.
In this half day class you will gain an understanding and way of seeing while simplifying your subject. During the course of the morning you will also hear a little about The Old Masters and their approach to drawing.
All materials needed to complete this workshop are supplied along with complimentary teas and coffee.
The Summer Week Class has the artist attend daily for five consecutive morning sessions Monday through Friday. Each morning class lasts for 3 hours with a mid morning break for complimentary teas and coffee. Class begins each day at 10am and finishes at 1pm. Each person attending works at their own pace and skill level which makes these classes suitable for beginners and more advanced artists.
In this workshop series we focus on one particular artist and paint a local scene in their style while learning a little about the life and times of the artist.
All materials needed to complete this workshop are supplied along with complimentary teas and coffee with a light lunch served mid way
